Adding to the excitement, rumours circulated that Messi was in Barcelona ahead of the team’s match against Atletico Madrid on Sunday. When asked about the possibility of Messi’s return. FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta was tight-lipped.

“Today it’s time to meet with Atletico,” Laporta said, according to Sport.

Laporta’s comments suggest that the club focuses on the task. But that hasn’t stopped fans from churning the Barcelona transfer mill for Messi’s homecoming news. While Laporta refused to comment further on Messi’s future, his response didn’t do much to dampen the excitement.
