The French football powerhouse went 1-0 down in the first leg after losing at Parc Des Princes in February. Next week, Christophe Galtier’s side will be looking to revive their UEFA champions league hopes as they face Bayern at Allianz Arena Stadium. However, it won’t be a walk in the park as the German football superpowers have been known to frustrate other teams in these competitions.
PSG VS Bayern First Leg
The first leg saw PSG display substandard performance on the pitch, and a defeat was imminent-they were lucky only a strike from their former player, Kingsley Coman, found the back of the net. A recent performance by Galtier’s boys has exposed their flaws, especially in the defense line and the overly sloppy midfield. Despite having world-class attackers Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe, they have struggled to win matches, especially since the start of 2023.
The winning strategy to get past Bayern Munich, PSG have to put their best foot forward and display a match for the ages,
from the defense line to the final third. The idea of playing around Messi sounds convincing, but the team has poorly implemented it, as seen in matches where there has been a poor transition of the match from the midfield to the attackers. In the 2 nd leg, PSG has to take the game to Bayern this time.
The Midfield Battle
They must command the game, particularly in the midfield, and close the spaces exploited by ruthless opponents. The recent collaboration between Messi and Mbappe in the game against Olympique Marseille highlights the magnitude of performance to expect when the duo is at work and their ability to change the course of the match in a minute. For both, elimination would mean shrinkage of their hope to win the Ballon d’Or this year. Particularly for Kylian Mbappe, his absence from the European competition would significantly affect his prospects of greatness. Moreover, the coach has to be right on the choice of players that he starts and benches, while the probability of extra time should not be overlooked if the goal tally is level at the end of the normal time.

Conclusion
However, Bayern is a tough opponent, and coupled with their home fans beating them would require extra efforts from Magic Messi and energetic Kylian Mbappe. Each player will need to find their defensive discipline and shooting boots for 90 minutes. We can only wait to see another seemingly impossible performance within the confines of football, but impossible is nothing European football.
