Memphis Depay Completes Move to Athletico Madrid for €3M

According to journalist Samuel Marsden, Memphis Depay has completed a move to Athletico Madrid for a reported fee of €3M. The transfer comes as a surprise to many, as Barcelona were pushing for a swap deal involving Yanick Carrasco. However, Athletico Madrid were reportedly demanding a fee of €60M for Carrasco, which ultimately led to the deal falling through.

Depay’s move to Athletico Madrid was not without its controversies, as journalist Javi Miguel reported that the Dutch forward did not show up to training, which upset both the coaching staff and the board. This led to tensions between Depay and his former club, and it is believed that the situation could have turned toxic if the transfer had not gone through.

Despite the controversies surrounding his departure, Depay is now set to join Athletico Madrid and will be looking to make an immediate impact for the Spanish side. The deal has not yet been officially announced, but it is believed to be near completion. Depay will be joining one of the most competitive clubs in Europe and will be looking to help the team to win the La Liga and UEFA Champions League.
