Ramsdale, who had been instrumental in the Gunners’ victory, had celebrated the win by kissing his badge and exchanging words with Tottenham forward Richarlison. The altercation with the supporter occurred as he was gathering his water bottle, and he was quickly surrounded by both sets of players who tried to intervene and calm the situation.

“It’s a shame as it’s just a game of football at the end of the day. The Spurs fans gave me some throughout the game. I was giving some back. The people I did give it to greeted it in sportsmanlike terms, but one fan tried to give me a little punch on the back. It’s a sour taste but I’m sure we will enjoy it when we go back into the dressing room.”

The incident has sparked condemnation from both teams and the football community, with calls for stricter security measures to be put in place to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. The supporter involved has been arrested by police and banned from the stadium.

The win extends Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League table, eight points clear of their rivals. The Gunners will hope to continue their winning streak when they take on Manchester United next weekend.
